The Punjab Government has unveiled plans to launch six major schemes in the province, including the distribution of Kisan Cards to 5 lakh farmers. This initiative offers a valuable opportunity for eligible farmers to apply for the Kisan Card scheme through designated agriculture centers. By obtaining the Kisan Card, farmers can avail themselves of subsidized items for their fields and crops starting October 15.

Initiating the Distribution of 40,000 Kisan Cards

In an announcement made on September 10, 2024, the Chief Minister of Punjab disclosed the commencement of distributing Kisan Cards to registered individuals. Initially, 40,000 Kisan Cards will be issued to farmers for utilization after October 15, enabling them to access subsidized input items for their crops.

The Kisan Card program facilitates farmers with loans ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 150,000 per acre for enhancing agricultural activities and boosting productivity, as announced by the Punjab government.

  • Farmers owning up to 12.5 acres qualify.
  • Mobile SIM card linked to CNIC required.
  • Loans accessible to landowners with records in PLRA.

Empowering Farmers in Punjab Through Innovative Initiatives

By seamlessly connecting PLRA records with farmer registration databases managed by PITB, Punjab’s farmers are poised to undergo digital validation, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in the process.

Following land registration, verification from PMD, eECIB, and NADRA, farmers will receive the Chief Minister Kissan Card from the Bank of Punjab, streamlining access to essential services and financial support.

Transitioning towards a more inclusive approach, initially, 500,000 farmers will be eligible for the loan program on a first-come, first-served basis, with each farmer eligible to borrow up to Rs. 150,000 for 5 acres per season.

A significant development comes with the approval of the Agriculture Mall Project across four key districts, facilitating farmers in acquiring agricultural supplies, seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides alongside counseling services and financial assistance.
