PM’s Laptop Scheme Online Registration Reopened
The government of Pakistan has once again initiated the PM’s Laptop Scheme for online registration, aiming to empower the youth through education and technology. With a significant portion of the population being youth, it is crucial to provide them with access to modern tools like laptops.
History of the PM’s Laptop Scheme
The PM’s Laptop Scheme was first launched in 2013 under the leadership of Honorable Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, with the goal of distributing laptops to students. Over 5 million laptops have been distributed so far, benefiting numerous students across the country.
Subsequently, under the tenure of Mr. Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, the scheme was re-launched with an expanded budget to cater to more students. The latest reimagination of the scheme was led by Mrs. Maryam Nawaz Sahib, the newly elected Chief Minister of Punjab.
Eligibility Criteria for the PM’s Laptop Scheme
The eligibility criteria for the PM’s Laptop Scheme are concise and straightforward:
- Students must possess a valid National Identity Card.
- Enrollment in eligible universities is mandatory.
- Students from approved private universities are also eligible.
- Distance education institutions are not included in the scheme.
- Registration must be completed before the specified deadline.
How to Apply for the PM’s Laptop Scheme
To apply for the PM’s Laptop Scheme, visit the official website pmyp.com.pk, and follow the application process. Input your National Identity Card number without dashes, read and accept the instructions carefully, and fill out the form with accurate personal details.
It is essential to provide correct information to ensure a smooth distribution process. Any discrepancies might result in the denial of receiving a laptop through the scheme.
Eligible Universities for the Laptops Scheme
The laptops will be distributed based on merit among students from eligible universities. These laptops aim to enhance digital skills and promote IT awareness among students. Approximately 114 universities nationwide have been identified as eligible for the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme.
