Revolutionizing Agriculture with CM Green Tractor Scheme

Empowering Farmers with Affordable Tractors

Under the dynamic leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the CM Green Tractor Scheme has been unveiled. The initiative aims to provide 20,000 tractors to farmers on easy installment plans, aiming to transform the agricultural landscape in Punjab.

With a dedicated budget of 64 billion rupees, including a subsidy of 30 billion rupees, small and medium farmers stand to benefit significantly from this scheme, promoting enhanced agricultural productivity and job opportunities in rural areas.

Through subsidies amounting to approximately 10 lakh rupees per farmer, this scheme will directly impact the lives of farmers across the province, ensuring access to essential agricultural machinery at reduced rates.

Objectives Driving the Green Tractor Scheme

The primary goal of the Green Tractor Scheme is to equip Punjab’s farmers with tractors to enhance agricultural efficiency. Currently, there is an average of 57 acres of cultivated land per tractor in various districts of Punjab, signifying the need for increased mechanization.

With a total of 541 thousand tractors currently operational in the province, the distribution of 20,000 additional tractors through this scheme will elevate the mechanization level to 3.69%, thereby revolutionizing crop production across the region.

Subsidy Details and Eligibility Criteria

As part of the CM Green Tractor Scheme, 20 thousand tractors will be disbursed throughout Punjab, with an initial phase focusing on the distribution of 10 thousand tractors. Eligibility criteria include landowners ranging from one to 50 acres, with varying horsepower specifications based on landholding size.

Generous subsidies ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh will be provided to facilitate tractor purchases, particularly benefiting small-scale farmers. This support aims to make mechanization more accessible, enabling farmers to enhance productivity and output.

Advantages Offered by the Green Tractor Scheme

By bridging the gap in the tractor-to-farmland ratio in Punjab, currently at 57 acres per tractor, this scheme will contribute to increased agricultural yields. Research indicates that a one percent rise in farm mechanization leads to a substantial boost in crop production.

Through the utilization of modern tractors and machinery, farmers can achieve higher efficiency, lower labor costs, and save valuable time, ultimately enhancing their income and financial stability.
