The Sindh Government has initiated a groundbreaking grading scheme for Matric and Inter students, transitioning from numeric scores to a graded system. Under this system developed by the Inter-Board Coordination Committee (IBCC), students will now be assigned grades based on their achievements. For instance, scores of 95% and above will be categorized as “Exceptional,” while scores below 40% will fall under “Unsatisfactory.”

- 95% and above: A++ (Exceptional)
- 90-94%: A+ (Outstanding)
- 85-89%: A (Excellent)
- 80-84%: B++ (Very Good)
- 75-79%: B+ (Good)
- 70-74%: B (Fairly Good)
- 60-69%: C (Above Average)
- 50-59%: D (Average)
- 40-49%: E (Below Average)
- Below 40%: U (Unsatisfactory)
Sindh: Leading the Way in Introducing Grading System
While other provinces like Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan are yet to adopt the new grading system, Sindh has taken the lead in implementing this progressive measure. Notably, the national committee of educational board chairmen decided in 2022 to adopt a 10-point grading system across the country for Inter (Grade XII) and Matric (Grade X) levels.
Enhanced Minimum Passing Marks Requirement
The IBCC Department has raised the bar by increasing the minimum passing marks by seven points. This adjustment ensures that students who previously fell short of passing with scores below 33 will now succeed with scores exceeding 40. In a recent announcement, IBCC Executive Director Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah disclosed that students would benefit from grace marks in examinations as part of an overarching educational reform endeavor.
