Punjab Government Launches Electric Motorbike Scheme for University Students
The Punjab government takes a significant step towards environmentally friendly transportation by announcing the provision of electric motorbikes to university students. The initiative aims to combat air pollution caused by fuel-powered vehicles, with a focus on improving the overall environmental quality.
Collaboration for a Greener Future
In collaboration with the Punjab Government, the Punjab Development Authority, and the Bank of Punjab, around 20,000 electric bikes will be made available to university students at a minimal markup of six percent, significantly lower than the market rate of approximately 23%. This scheme intends to offer students affordable and convenient transportation solutions for their daily commute.
Eligibility Criteria and Application Process
While specific eligibility criteria are yet to be finalized, discussions are underway between the government and the Bank of Punjab to establish the requirements for students to avail themselves of the electric motorbikes. Details regarding the advance payment and installment plans are also under consideration, ensuring accessibility to students from various backgrounds.
Price Range and Quota Expansion
Electric motorbikes, priced between 96 thousand to 3.5 lakh rupees in the general market, will be distributed over a two-year installment plan. The government plans to increase the quota of electric motorbikes to further support students in their academic pursuits. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasizes the importance of enhancing student facilities, with the first phase of the project targeting major cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur.

The application process and students’ grievance redressal system will be carefully monitored to ensure a smooth and efficient distribution of the motorbikes. The project is slated for launch on May 9, with deliveries expected to commence in March.

قیمتوں کی رینج اور نیایتی کوٹا
الیکٹرک موٹر بائیک، عام مارکیٹ میں 96 ہزار سے 3.5 لاکھ روپے کی قیمتوں پر دستیاب ہوگی جو کہ دو سال کے قسطوں پر تقسیم کی جائیں گی۔ حکومت انجامی مقدار الیکٹرک موٹر بائیکس کو بڑھانے کی منصوبہ بندی کر رہی ہے تاکہ طلباء کو ان کی تعلیمی کامیابی میں مزید حمایت حاصل ہو۔
قائدیت کی توسیع
چیف منسٹر مریم نواز نے طلباء کی سہولتیں بڑھانے کی اہمیت پر زور دیا ہے جس کا پہلا دور معیار کی شہروں جیسے لاہور، راولپنڈی، فیصل آباد و بہاولپور کو نشانہ بنایا ہے۔
